RPh on the Go

Hi. My name’s Cyrus Pacis. I’m an RPh on the Go pharmacist and will be taking over the blogging here starting today.

I started with humble beginnings as a pharmacist. I once believed getting a job and staying with that job till retirement was the norm, but I found it totally not fulfilling. Complacency is the evil that we all share in the work place. It brings boredom, which leads to careless mistakes. It brings laziness, which leads to animosities among co-workers.

For the first 11 years as a pharmacist, I found myself in that trap of being complacent. Each one of us went through this. Haven’t you noticed doing the same mundane routine day in and day out? Haven’t you noticed some co-workers are getting on your nerves? Haven’t you noticed questioning yourself if this is the best it can get? Well, that was me. [click to continue…]

The "can do," the "will do" and the "fit"

by Brigid DeFalco on May 13, 2009

At RPh on the Go, we ensure that all of our pharmacy professionals and clients are a good match. How do we do this? We work intensely with both our clients and our staff to find out what expectations each has as a prospective employer and as a staff member.

This is done by going through the process of verifying, for both client and staff, that for each placement we have the “Can Do”, the “Will Do” and the “Fit”.

The “Can Do” is validating experience level for the position you currently wish to fill. We also evaluate the individual environment of your staff opening to ensure that we find the absolute best candidate for you and that they “Can Do” the job. Not only are we validating experience levels, but we also take into account personality, career goals and past performance. When you staff your pharmacy with RPh on the Go, you can be sure that your pharmacist “Can Do” the job you require.

The “Will Do” is a more elusive evaluation. Each pharmacy has its own individual personality type, some environments require a higher level of people skills, some environments require a high energy individual who can keep up an ongoing hectic pace and some require an ability to be more assertive and proactive, perhaps supervising other staff or engaging a higher level of management skills than others.

At RPh on the Go we ensure that the pharmacy staff we place with you will have a clear understanding of the expectations of the position you are filling and we are confident that our staff “Will Do” everything you require in order to have you staffing expectations met or exceeded. We work so closely with our staff members that we always ensure that not only are we meeting your organization’s needs, but that your position is meeting the expectations of our staff as well, creating an excellent match.

The final step of our placement process is ensuring that we have a good “Fit”. This means that we select the member(s) of our staff for you that desires a schedule equal to your requirements, is interested in working in the environment you have created, and is well aware of any idiosyncrasies inherent to your individual pharmacy and is prepared to work with them for your mutual success. You can expect a seamless integration of our staff into your facility as our Career Consultants work with each pharmaceutical professional on an individual basis to ensure that both the client and the staff member are right for each other.

The best way to ensure that you have the “Can Do”, the “Will Do” and “The Fit” for your pharmacy is to come to RPh on the Go for all of your pharmacy staffing needs.

Communication Skills Crucial in Home Infusion Pharmacy

by Brigid DeFalco on April 10, 2009

Choosing the career path of Home Infusion Pharmacy brings you into a branch of Pharmacy that will require you to have intensive communication skills and that will also bring you very close to the patients that you serve.

At Rph on the Go, your personal Career Consultant will work with you to help you choose which branch of Pharmacy you wish to pursue. The rising number of Home Infusion Pharmacies around the country is creating a high demand for Pharmacists in this area. More and more patients, for a variety of reasons, are opting for home health care rather than inpatient treatment.

If you enjoy heavy interaction with your patients and the nursing staff that administers to them, this may be the niche for you.

When a patient is treating a serious disease but is allowed to do so in the comfort and privacy of their own home, they create a special bond with their Pharmacist that naturally develops through human nature. Your ongoing monitoring of the results of their treatment and interaction with other members of the health care staff involved will bring you very close to these patients at times. You are literally the “lifeline”, the key link, in this patient’s medical treatment and if you are a “people person” you may find this very rewarding and possibly emotionally trying at times.

Interacting with the patient will require you to be able to reassure them when they are fearful and advise them on a technical level so that they have a clear understanding of their treatment and what they can expect. They will be looking to you for answers and you will be there to educate them.

Many big chain retailers nationwide are now offering 24/7 home infusion services, creating a large need for staff. At Rph on the Go we know what those opportunities are and can provide the staff required. Is this the career path for you? Sign up with us today and begin working with your Personal Career Consultant. We care about you and your career path and we want to set you up to succeed.
