amneal pharmaceuticals nasal sprayAmneal Pharmaceuticals has been providing medicines since 2002 and has been acquiring other pharmaceutical companies since 2007. While they are not a “new” company, they have created their very first product in spray form. Jim Luce, Amneal’s EVP Sales and Marketing said, “As the first nasal spray product from Amneal, it stands as yet another example of how we continue to expand into new and more complex dosage forms.”

Amneal Pharmaceuticals has been a major provider of generic medicines, and their newest product is about to make a big splash. Mometasone furoate is a generic version of Nasonex and is used for the treatment of allergy symptoms. More specifically, it treats congestion, sneezing, and runny nose when the steroid is sprayed into the nasal passage. The cost of Nasonex can be overwhelming for Americans who do not have insurance. According to Good Rx, the most expensive price for Nasonex was $235 for 17 grams. Generic mometasone furoate can cost as little as $74. Seventeen grams is enough to give you about 120 doses. While that can last you one allergy season, it’s still a bit pricey for Nasonex. By Amneal providing another generic option, they can help drive the cost down and it makes it more accessible to folks who may not otherwise be able to afford these products.

Amneal Pharmaceuticals has been very busy acquiring new manufacturing facilities in addition to other companies. Since 2011, they are holding strong as the 7th largest generics company in the USA. In addition, they do what they can to help make medicines available by donating to two organizations, Americares and Dispensary of Hope. Both organizations deliver medicines to those who could otherwise not afford them. Americares has also helped folks in Cambodia during the Typhoon Haiyan catastrophe of 2013. Since the headquarters are in Bridgewater, New Jersey, some of their community works are in the New York and New Jersey area. They routinely support the Race for the Cure and Kaboom, a program that helps bring playgrounds to neighborhoods so that children can get outside to play more often.

They are certainly gaining strength as a leading manufacturer of the generic medicines and have many ideas coming down the pipeline. Metered dose inhalers, chewable tablets, and transdermal patches are just a few things we will patiently wait for them to manufacture as they continue bringing affordable medicines to the table.  More recently, they have been acquiring companies in other countries and providing more jobs across the globe.
